Orlando car accident attorneys are keeping an eye on the mayhem in the parking lot at the University of Central Florida. It’s starting to look like students are training for a demolition derby.
The Orlando Sentinel reports that there have been 40 (yes forty) car accidents on campus since students came back to school. That was about a week ago.
UCF Police Department Chief Carl Metzger sent out an email imploring students to use “a little extra caring and consideration” in parking garages. Consideration may be the main thing lacking since most of the car accidents seem to be hit and run affairs. “In the event you are involved in or witness an accident, call police immediately,” Metzger wrote. “Do the right thing, and don’t leave the scene.”

Judging from the comments on Chief Metzger’s Facebook Post on the situation, students could use a few lessons on defensive driving. “As a parent who has been on campus a few times over the summer, it scares me seeing how some of the kids drive……weaving in and out speeding, running stop signs etc.,” writes one concerned tuition payer. “I hope the additional enforcement helps.”

“Drivers should be aware that UCF is a pedestrian, bicyclist and skateboarder-friendly campus,” Metzger said. “Those travelers also must follow the rules of the road, which include obeying traffic signals and looking both ways before crossing the street.”
