Florida Car Accident Deaths Include Kids in Hot Cars

Not all injuries and deaths from Florida car accidents are the result of collisions and crashes. Across the country, dozens of children die every year after being left unattended in a hot car. The official cause is called hyperthermia or vehicular heatstroke. Since 199o, more than 800 children have died. During that time, 89 children have died in Florida from being left in hot cars. While July is generally the most dangerous time for such Florida car accident deaths, kids can die in hot cars almost any time, anywhere. A 1-year-old baby died in Miami in March, when the temperature was said to...

Orlando Traffic Accidents: How Safe is Driving in Central Florida?

Seems the locals don't believe what the experts at WalletHub say about the Orlando driving experience. WDBO is skeptical. "REALLY? WALLETHUB RANKS ORLANDO AS 3RD BEST US CITY FOR DRIVING" WFTV is also incredulous: "Orlando is (somehow) the 3rd best U.S. city to drive in, study says" Orlando Business Journal isn't buying it either: "Orlando a top city for drivers — wait, what?" Maybe it's the ever-rising number of Orlando traffic accidents. Or the never-ending I-4 Ultimate Improvement Project. Maybe the fact the millions of disoriented tourists hop onto Orlando's unfamiliar roads in rental cars every year. Or the thousands distracted driving accidents on Florida's roads....

The Florida Cheeseburger lawsuit has stirred up talk again about a frivolous lawsuit, with most people dismissing the action as a stunt. Two McDonald's customers in Florida are suing the fast food behemoth for not discounting the price of a cheeseburger without cheese. The lawsuit, filed in Fort Lauderdale, asserts that "A customer who wanted a Quarter Pounder was required to order and pay for a Quarter Pounder with cheese, which was given to the customer without cheese." The suit claims that McDonald's is engaging in "deceptive and misleading" practices. The reasoning is that Micky D's "receives payment for cheese it does not deliver...

Florida Airbag Recall

There is still a lot of work to do for those trying to raise awareness of the Florida airbag recall. Specifically, it's a Takata airbag recall, which includes many makes and models of cars. While it's an urgent problem throughout the country, nowhere is the situation more urgent than it is in Florida. Senator Bill Nelson has taken the lead in trying to get Floridians to check to see if their car has been recalled for an unsafe airbag. That's because hot and humid conditions make the defect which causes airbags to malfunction worse. Airbags use an explosive metal cartridge to almost instantaneously inflate...
