He sent a letter to NHTSA Deputy Director Heidi King noting more than 120 complaints about the car fires. “We have to find out what is causing these fires and what can be done to prevent them," Nelson told King. "Owners need to know if their vehicles are safe. As a result, NHTSA must quickly identify and adequately address any serious safety issues.” The Center for...

Florida Airbag Recall

There is still a lot of work to do for those trying to raise awareness of the Florida airbag recall. Specifically, it's a Takata airbag recall, which includes many makes and models of cars. While it's an urgent problem throughout the country, nowhere is the situation more urgent than it is in Florida. Senator Bill Nelson has taken the lead in trying to get Floridians to check to see if their car has been recalled for an unsafe airbag. That's because hot and humid conditions make the defect which causes airbags to malfunction worse. Airbags use an explosive metal cartridge to almost instantaneously inflate...

Distracted Driving Accidents

Orlando car accident lawyers are spending more and more time recovering losses for people injured in distracted driving accidents. Seatbelts, airbags, and collision impact engineering had been steadily improving highway safety for decades. In 1972, nearly 55,000 Americans died on the nation's highways. Because of safety improvements, and a crackdown on drunk driving, that number had dipped to about 32,000 in 2010. Fatalities were declining at about 10% a year and It seemed that safety advocates were winning. But that all began to change with the...
